The Final PSA is in….!!

Check out the final version of the Public Service Announcement completed with students and the TCNJ Bonner Scholars during our Community Engaged Learning project.

Thanks to the kind support of the Investors Foundation, Beyond Expectations has partnered with The Center for Community Engaged Learning and Research at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) on activities that integrate experential learning with community service, student development, and civic participation.

This year, we brought along middle and high school students primarily from the Trenton area to join with the TCNJ Bonner Scholars for an early start to the college campus experience.

The group worked collaboratively to produce a Public Service Announcement on an environmental topic - this year the focus was on Recycling. The hands-on activities allowed the students to leverage Mobile Media, a visit to the TV Studio, Campus Dining Hall, and wrapped in the Editing Lab to pull together the footage gathered from the day.

Another Phenomenal Television Production!

Feb 27 — Twenty middle school students (grades 6-8) recently completed our Introduction to Television Studio Production workshop facilitated by Executive Producer Leontyne Anglin. Following weeks of instruction on media terminology, conducting guest research, reading production schedules and hands-on simulation of varied roles of a production crew, they had the exciting opportunity to see their hard work come to life.

Students hosted and produced 4 episodes for Beyond Expectations TV in front of a live studio audience!

They did a phenomenal job working collaboratively on set as hosts, camera operators, floor managers, and in the control room as CG operators, audio, graphics and technical directors.

Special thanks to our longtime partner Riverview Studios CEO Jim Parker for his dedication to youth and continuing to make the state-of-the art broadcast facility accessible to BE for students to hone invaluable skills.

Our sincere thanks to the prestigious business owners and business leaders who served as featured guests for the student interviews:

  • Barry Zhang, CEO, Princetel

  • Multimedia Artist Chee Bravo

  • International Sculptor Autin Wright

  • Dianne Ciccone and Carol Hill, Trenton Museum Society

  • Chental Song Bembry, Author, Entrepreneur and former Beyond Expectations student returned after recently graduating from Hampton University as a Broadcast Journalist and completing an internship at ABC World News Tonight with David Muir. (Recent coverage in Buzzfeed)

The feedback from the day was overwhelmingly positive and will provide memories that the students won’t soon forget…
