From the Archives: Featured Film Projects
Before we transitioned into television production, we actually launched our Youth Media Program in 2007 with filmmaking — allowing students to write and tell their own stories for a change. Our early hands-on projects helped shed light on real issues so many youth still continue to face today.
“18 and Out” Our first-ever short independent film featured students from the Making Visions Possible program in Willingboro High School who worked alongside a professional crew as an introduction to the intricate production process. Completed project was showcased across multiple film festivals.
“Square One” This original project was conceived, written, shot and produced by a group of phenomenal young men at a transitional home in Somerset County during our BE Filmmaking Weekend Retreat. Special thanks to our awesome crew, co-director Mary Granahan from Comcast, former students/co-facilitators Anthony Weaver and Chental Song Bembry, parents, guest facilitators, and volunteers from The Princeton Theological Seminary. Includes behind-the-scenes footage.
"Wrong Turn” This original project was conceived, written, shot, and produced by students from Shiloh CDC in Mercer County working as part of a film production crew during a 6-week training series. Special thanks to co-director Mary Granahan, co-facilitators Donna Hutchinson, NFL Legend Reggie Truck” Brown, and all the volunteers from The College of New Jersey Bonner Scholars Program, and Audio Engineer Franklin Sanchez at our onsite Trenton location at the historic Conservatory Mansion. Oscar Molina, director of photography. Includes behind-the-scenes footage.
Today, as we transitioned into a 100% virtual learning environment, we’ve embraced new tools where young people already are…with our Zoom, Discord & Twitch channels to keep them engaged and connected.
